Renting vs. owning; financial readiness; income stability; savings; emergency reserves; credit; debt; and the difference between wanting a house and being financially prepared for one.
- Understanding Your Financial Position
Credit score vs. credit profile; debt-to-income ratio; income lenders can use; assets and reserves; employment; bank statements; and why mortgage qualification is different from true affordability. - Understanding Mortgage Financing
Prequalification vs. preapproval; conventional, FHA, VA and USDA basics; down payments; PMI; interest rate vs. APR; points; closing costs; seller concessions; and assistance programs. - Determining What You Can Actually Afford
